For the past few years, I’ve enjoyed being an advocate and supporter of music education. I was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Fender Music Foundation in Agoura Hills, California. I am excited and honored to be a part of a wonderful team of successful people who are passionately committed to bringing music into peoples lives.
My new position will allow me to bring music into peoples lives in a BIG way. I am an advocate in doing work that allows you to use your unique talents and serve as many people as possible. For 13 years, I have been doing this through teaching private drum lessons and workshops.
My personal goals with this new position include:
- Helping the foundation grow significantly.
- Empowering more people to become regular supporters of the foundation.
Coast to Coast
With my new position, I made the decision to work out a bicoastal living arrangement…which is stressful and exciting at the same time. I love New York City, yet idea of being able to be in Southern California during the winter next year is quite appealing.
In the past few years, I’ve found so much happiness in giving to the Fender Music Foundation. Like many people, I am constantly stuck inside my own head focused on my own life. Giving to the foundation has allowed me to get out of my own head (for the most part) and focus on a cause greater than me. I feel great knowing that the effort I am putting into this will produce results long after I am alive.
Why this Foundation?
I smile whenever I read the foundations mission statement:
“The Fender Music Foundation believes that music participation is an essential element in the fabric of an enduring society. Our mission is to have the benefits of making music available to everyone in the communities in which we serve, to promote its importance through education and media initiatives, and to provide financial and in-kind resources in collaboration with other organizations to achieve our common goal.”
