As a self-employed musician, looking at your bank account isn’t the only indicator of how well your career is doing. It’s important to see yourself as a complete business. I learned about the importance of reflecting on your business each week from Dan Kennedy, in his book,

I invite you to give me your feedback below so that I can learn more about how to serve people better. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
What I Know This Week That I Didn’t Know About:
My Business
I learned that my business is changing as I change. The more that I am willing and able to permanently change ways of thinking, skills, and habits, the more my business changes. I’ve noticed that cash flow has been better because I am in the habit of doing certain things better:
- I go to the bank immediately when I get paid and deposit the money.
- I have reduced my debt drastically. In fact, my business is about a month away from being debt free.
- I think through purchase decisions more.
My Industry as a Whole
The music industry is on the verge of a big change. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s going to be a good change. Hints of this change can be seen little changes being made to revenue models different artists are experimenting with.
My Competition
I need to initiate ways to work better with my competition on projects. I regularly talk with my competitors about this, but need to take action on this. I have plans to take action on this this week at the 2012 Winter NAMM Show.
My Clients as a Group:
My clients really support me and it makes me feel good. I get excited at every opportunity I get to interact with a client.
My Top 10 Clients:
When you show clients your loyalty to them, they show it to you, sometimes in little ways. This week I was fortunate to get a very high paying gig from one of my top clients. He even drove to my home to give me the sheet music & CD. I am so grateful for my clients.
I invite you to give me your feedback below and be sure to check out the book,
