"Mike Veny is the brightest new star to cross my musical path in a while. He has his own brand of rhythm and a distinctive style as well as the ultimate positive youth energy mixed with the 'funk' of a seasoned player, especially for the music in our services at St. Marks Church in-the-Bowery. He's sensitive, prompt, cooperative, and dedicated. When I speak of favorite drummers my references are people like Bernice Brooks, my longtime friend George Brown of Kool and the Gang, and my own cousin, the late Elvin Jones.
