What is the Moeller Stroke?
The Moeller technique can be traced back to Sanford A. Moeller’s book, The Art of Snare Drumming. In his book, he describes the intricate details of the Moeller stroke after observing drummers in the 1800s.
The basic Moeller stroke is a unique, “whipping motion” which allows gravity to do the work for you. The Moeller technique in it’s entirety is actually a combination of several drum techniques. The Moeller technique allows you to do less and accomplish more.
