As the Winter NAMM Show in 2013 approaches, here is a list of items that you want to have on you at all times:
It bewilders me that so people don’t have business cards on them. There is NO EXCUSE for NOT having business cards on you. If you do have business cards on you, make sure they are up-to-date and professional looking. If you don’t have business cards or need new ones, go to VistaPrint (affiliate link) and order some now.
According to VistaPrint (affiliate link), “You only get one chance to make a great first impression, so make the most of it with high-quality, full-color premium business cards. Design and customize your own business cards with your logo or photo, or choose from our wide array of templates tailored to your industry. And, if you re searching for a sleek, professional look, you can customize your business cards by selecting a matte or glossy finish, foil-accents and more. Like all VistaPrint products, you can create your business cards in minutes and receive them in as few as 3 days.”
Government issued photo ID
To get your NAMM Show badge, you will need a government issued photo ID. Most importantly, you need your ID if an emergency happens. At the 2011 Winter NAMM Show, I had the unfortunate experience to see a person collapse right in front of my booth. Luckily, everything turned out ok. With about 100,000 people in attendance, something is bound to happen to someone.
This might seem like a no-brainer, but people sometimes forget that even though products aren’t for sale at the NAMM Show, things like taxi’s, food, water, & alcohol cost money. If possible, keep a small amount of cash on you (if you lose your wallet). Be sure to use a debit or credit card for most of your purchases.
Gum and/or breath mints
I urge you to introduce yourself to people, but you don’t want to scare them with your kung-fu breath. Have gum or breath mints on you…especially before you meet me.
The most important item you can bring to the NAMM Show is a good attitude. Be open to learning some new things, hearing some new music, and meeting some new people. When it comes to people, remember that people first need to know you, then like you, then trust you.
I look forward to meeting you at the Winter NAMM Show in 2013 with your nice business card & fresh breath. 🙂
