Real relationships are something that I truly value. For me, they begin with real conversations, not superficial “Oh it’s so great to meet you” dialogue that you overhear in a typical networking setting. Day 1 of the 2012 Winter NAMM Show began with some great meetings with great people. I was honored that several people blocked out time to meet with me and just hang…despite the distraction of 90,000 musicians around us.
Here are some of the wonderful people that I got to meet with today:
Hannah Ford & Dave Ford
Hanna Ford is a drumming icon on so many levels. She has had success not only as an incredibly skilled drummer, but as a brand. When I met her and her dad, I figured out immediately why she is so successful: they both are great people. It was an honor to meet them.
Wendy Jo Peterson
2011 was my healthiest eating year ever, but I still have long ways to go. Life helped me take another step in that area by bringing Wendy Jo Peterson into my life. I’m so grateful for her on so many levels: her energy, her smile, her passion, and the fact that she gave me a signed copy of her book Mediterranean Diet Cookbook For Dummies For Dummies.
Nik West
I LOVE FUNK….and so does Nik West. Nik met me for lunch and suggested we get In-N-Out Burger. My apologies to my West coast friends, but I’ve never had In-N-Out Burger before and now I know why you talk about it so much. Nik has such a relaxing energy, professionalism, and passion all in one package. I’m grateful because she gave me a copy of her CD.
Fender Music Foundation
Most of my time was spent out the Fender Music Foundation booth. I met so many great people who came to say hello, learn more about the foundation, and make donations. We made some design changes to our booth this year.
A Special Thanks to ONE Coconut Water
Day 1 of the NAMM Show was the best day the Fender Music Foundation has ever had at a NAMM show. We have an incredible director, Moriah Scoble, and committed interns that really went above and beyond to make Day 1 special. In addition, O.N.E. Coconut Water supplied us with coconut water for our booth. We offered them to thirsty people who gave us donations.
